The Brief
"Design and create a bespoke wedding dress for a family friend, drawing inspiration from a designer gown she had admired online while tailoring the design to her individual preferences, fit, and vision."

The Vision...
She had a clear vision in her mind, and was inspired by a gorgeous gown and jacket made by Alek Navi (pictured here). She reached out and asked me if I could recreate this in white for her, along with a mini strapless dress for the evening.

This process took place over the course of 8 months (alongside my part time job) with numerous fittings and toiles done. It was a huge learning process for myself but I enjoyed every minute and picked up so much along the way.

Evening Dress
The mini strapless dress was created to compliment the day dress, and allow for comfort and freedom alongside style and elegance as the evening came in.

Summary
I learnt many valuable skills such as project management, problem solving, material sourcing and expanding on my technical garment knowledge.
Granted, this dress isn’t perfect but for something that was created between just the two of us in my bedroom at home, I am very proud of myself. It has given me the confidence to know I can make anything I put my mind to.
